Toilets that are not clean can destroy a parks user experience. Our Facilities Team understand this and are passionate in ensuring that the toilets are cleaned to a high standard.
These tasks cover such things as water blasting, barbecue cleaning and servicing, park furniture, weed control around furniture, painting, repairing, reporting on wear and tear, breakages, graffiti and poster removal, vandalism response, and general cleaning including the special detailing involved in ceremonial occasions such as Anzac Day and site openings.
All of our contracts involve the collection and disposal of loose litter and the emptying of rubbish bins on parks, reserves and regional parks and each year we dispose of approximately 800 tonnes of litter.
Since 1996 we have managed dedicated rubbish teams, and established efficient, daily-programmed routines to ensure that service levels are met. Each routine is monitored and varied according to levels of rubbish and time of year. It is well recognised that the level of rubbish increases through the summer period, peaking in early January in line with summer holidays – so we change our routines and regimes to reflect this, taking such measures as relocating staff to address heavy volumes at peak times.
In addition to the responsibilities of the dedicated teams, all staff are charged with the responsibility for litter collection throughout our parks and recreational spaces when on site, and trained to be alert for any illegal dumping.
