RS wins contractor of the Year - Feilding Business Awards
From Rangiwahea to Himatangi, the green spaces and public facilities in each of the towns and villages across the district are all in the capable hands of the devoted local team at Recreational Services.
They impressed the judges to win Contractor of the Year at the Feilding & District Business Awards.
New to the district just 18 months ago, Recreational Services is the first recipient of the contractor’s award which was introduced for the first time this year.
“It’s great to know that we’ve made an impact and people have noticed some of the improvements that we’ve made in conjunction with Manawatu District Council,” says Operations Manager Duncan De Burgh.
They take care of the parks, green spaces and property maintenance, the public toilets, sports grounds and cemeteries and a fair bit of building work for the council as well.
“All the bedding plants, flowers and trees that you see around the streets of Feilding, pretty much anything that grows on public spaces in the towns and villages of the district.”
They’re a passionate team and helped in no small part, for Feilding winning NZ’s Most Beautiful Town award for the 15th time, reasserting its valuable trade mark.
“We're very involved with the local communities, we like to support local events and groups by giving our community BBQ trailer out free of charge.”
They’ve made a lot of friends in the communities while they’ve busy maintaining and beautifying their towns. They’re also known for their friendly chats and helpful gardening advice, as the judges were pleased to note.
“We get a lot of good feedback about our gardens, parks, and our public toilets about how clean they are, it’s very complimentary.”
