On Friday 26th October 2012 at the Westpac Auckland North Business Awards at North Harbour Stadium, Recreational Services Limited were announced as not only the winner of the Babcock Excellence in Leadership Award , they also took out the overall and most prestige award – The Westpac Supreme Business Excellence Award.
This was a huge honour for Recreational Services and recognises our commitment and dedication to continually improving the way we operate and do our business. This certification programme is aligned with the Baldridge National Quality Programme and is recognised internationally as a benchmark for organisational performance excellence. With 2012 being our 20th year in business receiving this recognition from our business peers was just the icing on the cake.
Recreational Services was up for three awards on the night and to win not only the Babcock Excellence in Leadership Award but also the Supreme Business Excellence Award was just amazing especially with the calibre of the other companies we were up against and enabled Recreational Services to assess their business model against the best of the best.
It was especially pleasing for Recreational Services to win the Auckland North Business Award as the company is North Shore born and bred and it is from its Takapuna base that it has been able to grown from a small to a large service provider within the parks contracting area. Recreational Services has also made history having won this overall award twice, we took out the supreme award in 2000, and winning again 12 years on further reinforces our company’s culture, dedication and commitment to continued improvement and providing excellence in everything that we do.
The Directors Brett and Natalie Turner, Paul Broom and Keitha Turner are so proud of their achievements especially as 20 years ago the company started out with one contract and a team of four and has now grown to a company with a staff of 300 spread over the country from Masterton to Cape Reinga. Recreational Services since its inception has set high standards for itself within the Parks and Open Spaces area and we continue to strive and push ourselves to meet and exceed business excellence in all areas of our business operations.
The Directors put their success down to their staff, who with their expertise, passion and total commitment are the life blood of the business and they recognise that without everyone playing their part they would not be able to continue to grow as a company to maintain over 3,000 parks within the North Island.
Brett Turner the Managing Director says “the awards are an important recognition of the company’s success to date, and this was made all the more special because the awards are a local accolade and shows we are doing things right, I am so proud of what we have achieved over the last 20 years.”
